Braintree (PayPal) pricing context

Braintree uses transparent flat-rate pricing with no monthly fees, no setup fees, and no minimum transaction requirements. Standard US rates (as of mid-2025): 2.59% + $0.49 per transaction for cards and digital wallets; 3.49% + $0.49 for Venmo; 0.75% (capped at $5) for ACH direct debit. A 1% surcharge applies for non-USD currencies or foreign-issued cards. Chargebacks incur a $15 flat fee. Transaction fees are not refunded on refunded transactions. Custom flat rates, interchange-plus pricing, and volume discounts are negotiable for high-volume established businesses. PayPal has publicly signaled a strategy of raising Braintree prices for large enterprise customers through contract renegotiations as of 2024–2025.
