AI Search Tracking

What is AI Search Tracking?

AI Search Tracking monitors how visible your developer tool is in AI-powered search engines like Perplexity, ChatGPT Search, and Google AI Mode. Unlike traditional SEO, which focuses on web page rankings, AI search tracking measures whether AI models cite and recommend your tool when developers search for solutions. DevTune tracks your citations, ranking positions, brand mentions, and visibility trends across multiple AI search platforms to help you optimize your content for AI-driven discovery.

Which AI search engines does DevTune track?

DevTune currently tracks visibility across major AI search platforms including Perplexity AI, ChatGPT Search, Google AI Mode, and Microsoft Bing Copilot. We continuously add new platforms as they emerge and gain developer adoption. Each platform is monitored for your tool's citation frequency, ranking position, and the context in which your tool appears.

How does prompt tracking work for AI search?

Prompt tracking monitors your tool's visibility when developers search for specific terms or prompts in AI search platforms. You define prompts relevant to your use cases (e.g., "What's the best authentication library for Next.js?"), and DevTune tracks whether your tool appears in AI search results, its citation ranking, and how it compares to competitors. Free plans include 10 tracked prompts, Plus plans get 100 prompts, and Pro plans include 300 prompts. Your prompts are evaluated on all selected platforms daily to monitor visibility trends over time.

How does competitive tracking work in AI search results?

Competitive tracking in AI search compares your tool's visibility against competitors for the same prompts. DevTune tracks citation positions, mention frequency, and recommendation context for both your tool and competitors across AI search platforms. This shows you when AI models prefer competitor solutions, which prompts they dominate, and how your visibility trends compare over time. You can identify competitive gaps, discover why AI models cite competitors more frequently, and optimize your content to improve your relative visibility. Competitive data appears in the AI Search dashboard alongside your own visibility metrics.

Adoption Tracking

What is Adoption Tracking?

Adoption Tracking monitors your SDK's popularity and growth across GitHub and package registries. It tracks GitHub stars, weekly package downloads from npm, PyPI, crates.io, NuGet, and RubyGems, and provides historical trend analysis. This helps you understand your market position, track adoption growth over time, and compare against competitors.

What adoption metrics are tracked?

DevTune tracks weekly download counts from package registries (npm, PyPI, crates.io, NuGet, RubyGems), GitHub stars and repository metrics, growth trends over 3/6/12 months, and comparative rankings against your competitors. Data is collected nightly and stored for historical trend analysis.

How often is adoption data updated?

Adoption metrics (GitHub stars, package downloads) are collected nightly from their respective APIs. All data is stored for historical trend analysis, and you can view growth patterns over time in your dashboard.

Can I track competitor adoption metrics?

Yes! You can add competitor GitHub repositories and package registry URLs in your AI Search Tracking configuration. DevTune will track adoption metrics for both your tools and competitors, allowing you to compare growth rates, download trends, and star counts over time.

Which package registries are supported?

DevTune supports adoption tracking for npm (JavaScript/TypeScript), PyPI (Python), crates.io (Rust), NuGet (.NET), and RubyGems (Ruby). Simply add your package URLs in the AI Search Tracking configuration to start tracking downloads.

How do I set up Adoption Tracking?

Adoption Tracking uses the domains you configure in AI Search Tracking. Add GitHub repository URLs (e.g., github.com/your-org/your-sdk) and package registry URLs (e.g., npmjs.com/package/your-sdk) as domains. DevTune automatically detects the domain type and starts collecting adoption metrics nightly.
